new production process for PET -GF composites
Given the PlC's aims to expand its production activities and produce new products PlC embarked on the construction of a new production process for PET -GF composites * Known as "Reinforced Plastics" ,these materials are widely used in a variety of industries such as automotive manufacturing, electrical- electronic, household appliances, etc.
The major feedstock used in the making of this product comprises (fiber-grade) Polyethylene Terephthalate virgin and fiber glass used to reinforce composites. The fiber glass used in the production of composites is three millimeters long and 13 micrometers thick.
The products from this process are polyester chips reinforced with fiber glass in varying proportions, currently designed and set at 30%. Apart from setting the proportion of the fiber glass in the product, the production process has the capability of producing two products with different viscosities giving the product distinct properties. Solid State Polymerization (SSP) is an option which creates the possibility of making a product with different properties.
